Agreement and eligibility
The Road Called Home is an independent editorial publication operated by Vamshi Vangapally. By using roadcalledhome.com, you agree to these terms and the Privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use the site or publish a journey.
You must be at least 13 to use the site. You must be at least 18, or have a parent or legal guardian act for you, to submit a journey for publication.
Using the publication
You may read, share links to, and use the archive for personal trip research. The site and its database are provided for lawful, noncommercial use unless we give written permission for another use. Access to a future premium data product may be governed by additional terms shown at purchase.
We may change, suspend, or discontinue features, correct records, or remove content when reasonably necessary. We do not promise that every journey, route, product, or campground record will remain available.
Travel information is not a safety guarantee
Stories describe particular people, equipment, seasons, and conditions. They are not professional driving, towing, mechanical, medical, legal, financial, weather, wildfire, border, or campground advice. Conditions and rules change. Before relying on a route or recommendation, verify road restrictions, vehicle ratings, reservations, closures, weather, permits, local law, and emergency guidance with current official sources.
You are responsible for your trip plan, equipment, insurance, passengers, pets, and decisions on the road. Product mentions are experiences, not warranties or endorsements. Any affiliate or sponsored relationship will be labeled when it applies.
Contributor submissions and consent
The current submission workflow can publish a journey immediately after the contributor reviews the draft, confirms that the account is truthful, and authorizes use of the selected display name. The contributor chooses whether we may make light editorial changes or contact them with questions.
You retain ownership of material you create. You are responsible for the accuracy of your account and for obtaining permission to share another person's name, image, private details, copyrighted work, trademark, link, or other protected material. An adult submitting family content must have authority to speak for minors shown or identified in it.
Do not submit precise private addresses, government identifiers, payment information, medical records, or other sensitive details that the story does not need. We may refuse, correct, unpublish, or remove a submission that creates a safety, privacy, legal, quality, or community concern.
The license you grant for publication
When you select Publish journey, you grant The Road Called Home a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, technically format, display, distribute, archive, and promote the submitted public material as part of the publication. This license includes excerpts, search records, social previews, newsletters, and an abridged Reddit edition that links to the original journey.
The license does not transfer your ownership. It lasts while the material is published and for a reasonable period in backups and records after removal. Copies controlled by search engines, Reddit, or other people may remain outside our control. To request removal, use the contact information below.
Editing, AI assistance, and distribution
Optional OpenAI tools transcribe a recording and structure a draft. The contributor can edit every field before publication and remains responsible for the final submitted account. If light editing permission is given, we may improve spelling, organization, length, and clarity without intentionally changing the meaning. If that permission is not given, we may still apply technical formatting and contact the contributor for approval of a needed correction.
Some stories in the founding archive are clearly identified editorial composites created for route education and site demonstration. They are not represented as verified contributor accounts. Submitted journeys are labeled and handled according to their source and verification status.
Publication rights and third-party material
The Road Called Home name, badge, site design, original editorial text, structured database, and software are protected by applicable intellectual property law. Except for your own contribution, you may not scrape, republish, sell, train a model on, or create a competing database from substantial portions of the site without written permission.
Limited quotations for commentary, criticism, or reporting may be allowed by law when properly attributed and linked. Third-party names, products, photographs, and trademarks belong to their respective owners. Links to external sites do not mean we control or endorse those sites.
Acceptable use
You may not use the site to:
- publish content you know is false, deceptive, defamatory, unlawful, or infringing;
- expose another person's private or precise location information without permission;
- upload malicious code, probe security, bypass rate limits, or disrupt the service;
- impersonate another person or misstate your authority to submit a family story;
- harvest contact information or use automated access in a way that burdens the service; or
- use the archive to train, populate, or sell a competing content or travel database without consent.
Disclaimers and limits of liability
To the extent permitted by law, the site and its content are provided as available, without warranties of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, uninterrupted operation, or safety. We do not guarantee the conduct of contributors, readers, campground operators, product makers, linked services, or Reddit.
To the extent permitted by law, The Road Called Home and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the site, a trip decision, equipment, third-party content, loss of data, or inability to access the service. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that applicable law does not allow us to exclude.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws that apply to the operator in the United States, without overriding any mandatory consumer protection that applies where you live. Before filing a formal claim, please contact us and give both sides a reasonable opportunity to resolve the issue informally.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms as the archive, submission workflow, data features, or distribution channels change. The date at the top identifies the current version. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms, to the extent allowed by law.
